CHAINED EVENT
Dwarves of the Orocarni
1) The Red Mountains
Triggers: After turn 50, 3% chance each turn. Dwarves of Erebor must have at least 4 settlements. May occur more than once of "no" selected for part 1.
To the people of Middle Earth, we are finality. We are the end. But there are things to the East, beyond even our own borders, which are far more mysterious. Beyond the sea of Rhun lie the Red Mountains, the counterparts of the Blue Mountains far to the West. Not even we know what lies within, what riches could be concealed in the dark caverns of those towering peaks. If you desire, we could change that. We could fund an expeditionary force, sending deep into the mountains in an attempt to find something of interest or value.
Yes, everybody knows that mountains hold gems, precious metals and useful metals: Pay 2,000 gold. Part 2 triggers in 8 turns.
No, the war is more important for now. Ask me another time: Nothing happens. Event chain may trigger again.
2) A great discovery!
Triggers: 8 turns after saying yes to part 1.
Lord, as you requested, an expeditionary force was sent to the Red Mountains to look for anything of value. What they found however, was staggering. Huge tunnels and caves, filled to the brim with Dwarves. They ensured that they stayed out of sight, as it remains to be seen whether or not they will be freinds or foes. If you wish, we can send a diplomat to begin negotiations with these Dwarves.
Yes, they could prove valuable allies or trade partners, and may even help in our war on the peoples of Middle Earth: Pay 1,000 gold, part 3a, 3b or 3c will start in 5 turns.
No, they might turn out to be our enemies. We should let sleeping dogs lie: Nothing happens.
3a) A potentially profitable situation
Triggers: 5 turns after part 2, 50% chance.
Sir, our diplomat has returned from the Orocarni, also called the Red Mountains, with good news! The Dwarves we found there have requested to start trading with us! They bring many valuable resources, including gold, gems, and iron. However, this might cause Dwarves to enter our lnds, and our people to go the other way. Do you wish to accpe their offer?
Yes, we need the money.: All settlements East of the Sea of Rhun gain a significant, permanent bonus to trade income. Dwarven culture in those settlements is increased, and public order decreased.
No, the people may resent seeing rich Dwarves in our lands.: Bonus to public order in all settlements East of the Sea of Rhun.
3b) Despicable Dwarves!
Triggers: 5 turns after part 2, 50% chance.
Sir, a servant from the diplomatic mission has returned from the Orocarni, also called the Red Mountains, with grave tidings. It appears that when our diplomat told the Dwarves there of our goals and explained a little of Middle Earth, they beheaded him, and sent back his servant with a message: "We are Dwarves, true and honourable, and we shall not allow you to destroy our brothers in Erebor!". It now appears that they have joined forces with the Dwarves to our North, and are attacking us from our supposedly safe Eastern flank! Should we try to create an army, though it would cost us, and fight back this threat?
Yes, the forces currently on our Eastern border are not sufficient.: Pay 4,000 gold. A large Erebor army appears in one of your Eastern settlements, including a good general with the trait "Stiffbeard". Relations with other Dwarvish factions set to terrible. War started with Erebor (if not already at war). A large Rhun army spawns in the same region.
No, our forces already in the East can deal with it.: A large Erebor army appears in one of your Eastern settlements, including a good general with the trait "Stiffbeard". War started with Erebor (if not already at war).
