Installation Step-by-step WITH IMAGES

First Install official TATW 1.1 – Follow the guide provided by the team.

Then download our file called “DaC3.75 Package.rar” /Pic 1, circle #1/

Using a decompression program such as Winrar or 7-zip you can view the files inside the Archive.

There is a file called “Readme before extracting.txt” but it is not a step by step guide – this thread is! /Pic 1, circle #2/

In this readme it explains a few this, firstly, that the archive package must be extracted to the main M2TW directory. /Pic 1, circle #3/

Spoiler:

You will have the 3 files in your main M2TW folder now /Pic 3, circle #6/, in that folder you will also have files such as "kingdoms.exe" a few folders such as "mods" and "logs" and "data" (but these are not in my pictures, i am at work!).

Now that the files are ready, double click the file called "Installer.exe" and launch our cool installing program for DaC. Make sure the Installer is directed to the main M2TW folder /Pic 3, circle #7/

Spoiler:

The installer will do all the work for you from here. It copies the required files from TATW 1.1 into a new mod folder for DaC. It will take about 2-3 min (depending on your system), let it do its job and do not close anything unless the instructions tell you to.

**NOW IT IS INSTALLED**

To play DaC you need to launch our custom Third Age.bat, which is located in the folder "mods\Third_AgeDAC\".
make yourself a shortcut on the desktop /Pic 4/

In the next release can you also include a .rar version that just needs to be dumped in the TATW folder?

For some reason the installer doesn't work for me. It says installation completed but it doesn't apply the changes

First let me hjust say, this sub-mod looks great.
I love all the new factions!

Now will I be able to install and play DaC 3.99 with TATW 1.3 already installed on my Vista-run laptop?
I mean DaC wont over-write TATW files so I cant play TATW 1.3 anymore will it?

Let me first say, that we at DaC are glad your pleased with the mod.

Yes, you can.

No Beleg it won't. DaC installs to it's own folder and does not disturb your TATW installation at all.


Edit:Forgot to answer your first question.

Nope - you can have 1.3 AND DaC on the same laptop without corrupting or overwriting data - they are both Mod Foldered, so it's a-okay.

However, there's been a change of installation proceedure -

Download both parts of 3.999 into a new folder, and download and install 7zip (completely free for life).

Now, go into the new folder, and right click on the 7z.001 file, and go to 7zip, and then extract. It will (eventually) dump the files in your new folder. Copy and paste the Third_AgeDAC mod into the mod folder in the M2TW directory.

Now, open up the Third_AgeDAC.cfg file (in notepad), and search for windowed. Change True to False, and you're okay to play

Greetings! I would very my like to play your wonderful mod, but am having installation problems. Perhaps it it something easily fixed.

For the new installation procedure we download both Third_AgeDAC.7z files into the dowloads folders, create new "TADAC" folder in the mods section of Medieval II. Then unzip only the first 001 file into the new folder, yes?
So what happens to the second 002 folder? Does it stay in downloads, or do we move it unzipped into the new TADAC mod folder? I actually tried unzipping it out of curiosity, but it won't open as an archive like 001 did, and won't unzip either. So does it do anything?

I also changed the .cfg file from "true" to "false", but still keep getting CTDs.

So what am I doing wrong?

I think you may have too many folder. In the Med2 Mod folder, you should have a folder called Third_AgeDaC. Open that and it should have several folders, 2 .bat's, and .ico, and a couple of .cfg's.

Basically, follow the instructions above, and it's nigh on fool proof.

I have the Third_AgeDaC folder in the mods section as described. Inside are:
custom folder
data folder
preferences folder
"evil eye" icon
TATWDAC cfg file
TATWtest cfg file
Third Age DaC batch file
Third Age DaC test batch file

and it still won't install?

Your folder has the correct files. From your post it is unclear, did you unzip from the Downloads folder or move part 1 to the Third_AgeDAC folder? I ask, because both part 1 and part 2, must be in the same location when unzipping, the reason is that 7zip sees them as one big file that's why you don't need to unzip part 2 separately, as it is unzipped along with the part 1. (NOTE: there will be no notification of the second file being unzipped.) From here you just create a desktop shortcut and modify the cfg file(make sure its the one that matches the bat file your choose to use), if desired, and your ready to play.

I followed your install process to the dot.

But somehow i cannot open it?

Im using steam, does this have something to do with it?

When i run it the usual window pops up, where i can choose which game i want to play(americas, teutonic crusader, etc.) But there is no option for DaC??

Please help me, because i wanna play this mod, it sounds very awesome

Yep, steam needs a unique install. You must rename your ThirdAge_DAC folder to any of the original Kingdoms name (americas, teutonic, etc. any is good). If you have done this, do the following:

1. open DaC folder, search for the .cfg and .bat files you have there (.bat is usually presented with a little wheel icon and is an MS-DOS file)

2. open .cfg file:

.cfg: right click, open with notepad and change the following lines to:

[features]
;editor = true
mod = mods/change to the name of your folder renamed (for example crusades or teutonic, etc.)

3.
.bat: right click, edit, and change to:

cd ..\..
start kingdoms.exe @mods\name of your folder renamed (see above)\third_age.cfg (name of the .cfg file. Sorry, I don't know that by my mind and I do not have DaC installed in my office PC).

Do this with both the test and the normal game files, too.
